i know exactly what you mean about redirecting the stress of college to the joyful parts. surprisingly, i've found the enjoyable part in the common app essay. i think no matter where you end up in your post-highschool plans, two things will be true: 1. you'll be okay, i promise. even if you didn't end up where you thought you'd be! 2. removing the stress, the common app process is a way to evaluate who you've been in your 4 years of highschool. it's always such a good thing to be doing self-reflection, it's painful and sometimes uncomfortable but it's necessary. the power of our stories are so important and i think that is what i'll learn and am learning during my last year of hs. but def agree! i'm so excited to further my learning, i'm super interested in the social science/humanities field. take care :)

i think we like learning new things, studying even depending on the method... we (or a lot of us) just don't like the continuous pressure of being evaluated. is it even learning if one does it slowly and leisurely? dunno. congrats on getting your license :)

this was such a calming read!!!! especially right as i am in the middle of drafting a common app rough draft LMAO i think for me school used to be my fun and way to destress in a loser kinda way but nowadays i feel that it's more of the curse part that you talked about. wondering what the best way is to start finding joy in the schoolwork and writing and classes but hopefully it's all figured out by college

you are amazing!! hope writing the draft went well. i try my best to see each CLASS as just an opportunity to learn something new. the schoolwork is a drag and maybe that’ll never change, but the class can be very fun and informative !! i dont think most of our assignments will ever be joyful so maybe we can cut our losses and just enjoy the class and time we spend learning together

i am so excited to grow up with you! i think it’s not that we don’t have enough time to stay in the present, but it’s hard for us to identify those times. the simple moments, like sitting next to each other in a class everyday, might be more meaningful than one instance outside of school. ykwim? that’s how i’m trying to see it at least

i really needed this right now. i think we’ve all been wallowed up in our own miseries that we forget about the good things there is to the future. and even if everything and are memories are just a rosy romanticizations, i think it really goes to show how transitory the bad parts are you know, that we shouldn’t be afraid of moving forward. anyway i love you thank you

you are a star desiree!! everything goes—the bad things will pass and we still might look back on those times as better than they actually were, and maybe that’ll encourage us to keep going and keep trying again! this reminds me of something tbh if you’re on the bus tmw i’ll tell you :)
