i love exploring music through writing; itβs one of those unique forms of expression that makes my dumb lil artist heart so very happy. thank you for going into depth about this project. i am going to listen to it in its entirety at some point this month for sure <3 aarushi youβre the sweetest.
happy march and this newsletter was a great way to start it! even just reading the title of your newsletter, my mind can't help but sing out the words "At Last" every time i see them. every time, consciously and unconsciously, my mind and eyes take a break to give james all the space she needs to finish singing those two words, beautifully suspended in the silence. i'm no music major or intellectual, but i absolutely love the space provided to her by the string accompaniment at the beginning of the song. everyone listening, including me, is waiting with held breaths for something that we don't even know ourselves we're waiting for until we hear her voice fill the space after 20 seconds, just to fade again. just those first 30 seconds of this song make me experience the very lessons and feelings this whole album tries to convey: yearning, loss, excitement! how beautiful is that, and how beautiful is music!
